Importance of Date Night

We always talk about how important quality time is in a relationship. No matter how long or how short you’ve been with your partner. Date night is important during the dating stages of a relationship but it is even more vital once you’re married. So what is date night? Aside from the typical dinner and a movie, there are a plethora of things you and your partner can do to have some fun and let loose after a long week such as:

  • drive in movie
  • picnic
  • beach walk
  • cooking dinner
  • cooking lessons
  • wine tasting
  • bowling

Amongst a chaotic lifestyle, you need to make time for each other. To settle down, talk to each other and feel more connected as a couple. Romance can easily be lost when you’ve been together for a long time, that’s why date nights help bring you and your partner back to the way things were when you first started dating.

Communication

Not only are date nights fun and a way to get away from the stresses of life, but it can also help increase communication. With so many distractions on during the week, some quality time to talk to your partner once a week can really help strengthen your relationship and communication skills.

Rekindle the Flame

It’s hard to rekindle any romance, spice or fire when it comes to a long-term relationship. With bills, mortgage and kids in the way, it can be especially hard to spark up the fire again. That’s why the quality time spent together on date night can really help that. One on one time can take you on a trip down memory lane to a time when life wasn’t so chaotic.

Have Fun

Having date night can also be fun! When you’re married, you should be having as much fun as possible with your partner. Do something daring, active and challenging so you can both do something out of your comfort zone. Researchers are discovering that “couples who engage in novel activities that are fun, active or otherwise arousing – from hiking to dancing to travel to card games – enjoy higher levels of relationship quality,”

So stop making those excuses and have some fun with your loved one! You both deserve it.
