Mother’s Day is just around the corner so we decided to do a Mother’s Day appreciation post! This year, we’ve selected one of our amazing Vital Angels, Elizabeth, who is a mum and grandmother! We are very excited to show her off in today’s special post!
What has motherhood taught you when it comes to love and relationships?
The term unconditional love is absolutely and perfectly apt for that of a loving mother and her child. There is nothing that can compare with that 3 am wake-up cry followed closely by the “Hell No!” resounding in your weary head. Then stumbling down the hallway half asleep, to pick up the noisemaker only to fall back in love with that precious moment they snuggle into your arms feeling warm, safe and loved, this is love, this is how love should always feel, safe, warm and welcoming.
What have your children/child taught you about life? (if anything)
My children have taught me more than I could possibly ever convey here, though in summary there are several poignant things that stand out.
Patience, because you will need a lot. The value of time, the dishes can wait this moment will only happen once, treasure it! New ideas and perspectives, because that is what you have taught them and they will resoundingly provide it back as they turn from children into adults. To remember to always have fun, laugh and to not take life too seriously, hold onto that inner child you need it more than you know!
What do you love most about being a mother?
There are a lot of things I love about being a mother and a grandmother, but I guess ultimately the absolute privilege of bringing another precious soul into the world and then nurturing them caring for them loving them and being so incredibly loved in return.
Who inspires you to be a better mother and why?
My children, because they will always pull you up when things aren’t right if you have raised them, to be honest, and forthright. It’s a circle!
How has working at Vital Partners affected your motherhood?
Working for Vital Partners has strengthened the value and importance of special connections and to never take them for granted, but nurture them and hold them tight as there is nothing more important than being loved and belonging.
What advice do you have for working mums?
Balance! Always keep the balance between, work, family your partner and yourself. It’s one of the hardest positions to be in, so care for yourself otherwise you will not be of value at work or at home… You are not Superwoman!
