WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT
Who would have thought that lonely man
(kind eyes with a hint of sadness,
posture somewhat dejected,
dress a little neglected)
studying the pavement on the busy street corner,
in front of a cafe…
Would become part of her very soul
twelve months later…
Who would have thought that a Duck Race,
a hilltop view over rolling meadows
and an Island Wander with damaged joints
would start an amorous adventure into a joint future.
Who would have thought
that they would have travelled to the Tropical North
Experienced Wilderness, Crocodile, thousands of Black Bats squealing,
“honeymoon” passion,(with champagne and chocolate games)
Taste Buffalo, Camel, fresh Barramundi and frozen mango mousse …
twelve month’s later
Who would have thought
the time they would spend
in exploration -testing the senses:
challenging their intellect,
exchanging skills, ideas, and favourite music
providing comfort and support
and ecstasy for their bodies…
Who would have thought
that together they would cheer (and jeer) their Crows
and for the first time ever
watch them beat the best in the country-
to own the precious cup
twelve months later.
Who would have thought
that he would have proposed to her
at a crazy charity night
buying a Magnum bottle of Shiraz
worth more than her week’s wages…
Twelve month’s later
Who would have thought
that such a sensible meeting
two cups of coffee and a chat
a tentative connection
betweenthe kind eyes
and her longing heart.
Would result in the greatest love
she has ever known.
