Celebrating Our Vital Mums

We have an extremely special blog post dedicated to all the beautiful mothers out there. A mother’s love is so undeniably powerful and we would quite literally be non-existent without them. We’ve decided to do a short interview with our very own Vital mums to find out a little bit more about their experiences as a Vital mum and what being a mother has taught them in life.

Celebrating our Vital Mum ~ Karen with her boys, Max (8) and Angus (6).

1. What one thing do you love about being a mum?

The intense love I feel for my children and eating their leftover junk food

2. How did being a Vital member change your life?

I was about to meet the father of my children and they are such a blessing to my life.

3. We want to celebrate you – what has being a mum taught you in relationships and love?

Young kids have a simplistic way of looking at things. As adults, we try and overthink and complicate things whereas children are very straightforward. In life, we should learn to keep it simple and trust your gut instinct.

4. We’re sure being a mum has lots of challenges but what gifts would you say your children have given you?

They’ve given me the gift of appreciation. To be grateful for the simpler things in life, the things that are priceless and more valuable than money can ever buy.

5. What would you share with women out there preparing or wanting to be a mum?

My advice would definitely be, sleep while you still can!

Celebrating our Vital Mum ~ Darien with her girls Alannah (4yrs) and Lily (8yrs).

1. What 3 things do you love about being a mum?

– The feeling of unconditional love you have for your kids.

– Showing and teaching my girls that they can do anything they put their mind to!

– Sharing everything that is good.

2. How did being a Vital member change your life?

It changed my life in an instant. Thinking back 9 years ago…my life was all about work and career and although very accomplished, I was ready to share it and focus on something more important…and so being a wife and mother with a man who I loved almost immediately was an easy step to take.

I was one of the lucky ones. I didn’t spend a lot of time and heartache on men who were not for me, because Vital Partners connected me with someone special who was looking for the same things.

3. We want to celebrate you – what has being a mum taught you in relationships and love?

I’ve learnt patience…never-ending patience. That I would do anything for my children, which is the most selfless love you can imagine. Not to sweat the small stuff (although I still do!). Definitely, the experience of meeting all sorts of people through your children and their activities broadens your world, and extends your life beyond yourself, and into the community that is parenthood!

I have also learnt that I am important too. It is easy to lose yourself and forsake your passions when you are needed by your family all the time. You also need to be happy and fulfilled yourself, and that is different for everybody.

And finally, those relationships take work and effort. You never regret the time you put into them. I stayed up nearly all night making my girls surprise letters and gifts in envelopes for every day I was away working for a week. It was well worth it and made it easier for all of us.

4. We’re sure being a mum has lots of challenges but what gifts would you say your children have given you?

– Selflessness, without a doubt.

– Exceptional efficiency and multitasking ability!

– Learning to enjoy the little things, like rolling on the floor or watching a movie together.

– To accept that I will do nothing perfectly ever again, but that is OK.

5. What would you share with women out there preparing or wanting to be a mum?

– Sometimes things get really hard. It’s OK to cry. You are never alone and there is always someone to talk to.

– You are a hero to your child. They will think and act like you do – good and bad. Set an exceptional example.

– Nothing is more important to your child than your focused time and attention. Give this to them every day, let them decide what you can do together.

– Give yourself time every day to be you, for you, whatever is your passion.

– Take lots of pictures and videos! Looking back together is super fun.

Thank you so much for our Vital mums for going on this journey with us. We are so happy to have helped in your journey to motherhood.
